IN ONE DIRECTION
AND THE REVERSE OF THAT DIRECTION
AND FROM FAR AWAY...
THERE IS GRAVEL EVERYWHERE.
THERE ARE SO MANY MORE PLANS FOR FLOWERS AND GRASSES
ROSES AND BUSHES
BUT UNTIL THEN...THE VEGETABLE GARDEN WILL HAVE TO DO.
I WISH ALL THE DIRT WAS THIS DARK.
WE LIVE IN AN AREA OF RED, RED CLAY.
NOT THE BEST FOR GROWING THINGS
EXCEPT GOPHERS!
BUT THE VEGETABLE GARDEN SEEMS TO BE PRODUCING WITHOUT MUCH HELP FROM ME THIS YEAR. JUST WATER AND LET THE SUNSHINE DO THE REST!
IT IS A GOOD THING TO HAVE A VISUAL RECORD OF WHAT THINGS LOOK LIKE AT THE BEGINNING SO THAT IN A YEAR OR TWO YOU CAN REALLY SEE PROGRESS.
Gravel's great, less weeding! It all looks terrific, Teri!
ReplyDeleteare those watermelons? you have been shoveling lots of gravel havent yoU? looks nice though...
ReplyDeleteThis is a good idea. I wish I had more photos of our place when we first built the house. It was a leveled off knoll, to begin with, that was void of trees and any living thing.
ReplyDeleteHaving a visual record of what each year looks like is a wonderful way to see the results of your hard work.
Your garden looks great.
I cant wait to see where you take this garden with potential ... enjoy the veggies ! >> Gina
ReplyDeleteBrian...no, cantaloupes. This is the first year ever that I have been able to grow any kind of a melon. And I really didn't have too much to do with it as all I did was slap a plant in the ground and water it. Having been so rushed during the move and then the weather was so bad for such a long time, made "planning" a garden impossible. But, it worked out anyway!!
ReplyDeleteConnie--I know exactly what you mean. When I walked into the yard of this place after we bought it I just sighed and said "What have I gotten myself into?" But, now I am starting to get lots of flowers, I just finished planting a rose garden and I have been planting things like bamboo along the fence to block out neighbors. I am also starting an area that will be nothing but shade loving plants like azalea, rhodys, bergenia, etc. It is fun getting to know the land.
Alaine...yes, less weeding to be sure. After having spent the entire summer on my bum weeding all that, it is great to finally get some gravel down. Then it will be just maintenance to keep them out. And hopefully the white dogs will stay more white. The other benefit will be less water. My water bill last month was over $100. I was not used to paying for water before...we had a great producing well.
I know what it means to have gravel put in here an there.. we are planning another huge gravel area but have to take out some lawn first.. always big projects.. but the results eventually look very nice.
ReplyDeleteHi Teri,
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting me today I am so glad to meet you. I have been here reading your post for awhile, I love your slant on life. You have a great writing ability but I wanted to see more of your art. The tie is interesting but the story is even more interesting.
Now lets discuss gravel, your garden looks great and I can see all your work. Yes a new garden is challenge but you can do anything. Your weather is so wonderful you will be able to grow lots of treasures.
New property is always challenging I am afraid I would just wonder around with my arms in the air shouting ....where do I begin.
You have a plan and it shows.
I am so happy you dropped by and I have gotten to see a part of your life.
You need to reconsider the giveaway idea, I was working my blog and with very little success so that is why I offered a giveaway. I have lots of new followers and new friends.
My camera has been on the blink, bad charger. That is solved and hope to post tomorrow.
This whole blog thing is so interesting, I can't believe I get writters block on a regular bases. I will be back for a visit
and about the followers button, they were gone for a few days but back now..... Blogger likes to play mind games and so far it is winning.
Take care and blessings to you. Kathy
