HAS STARTED TO ARRIVE HERE IN THE SIERRA NEVADA FOOTHILLS.
SHADES OF PINK AND PURPLE VIOLETS. WHAT, YOU SAY? PINK VIOLETS?
THESE ARE PINK VIOLETS. THAT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE, DOES IT. SHOULDN'T VIOLETS BE VIOLET? THEY SMELL JUST AS SWEET THOUGH!
BEAUTIFUL HELLEBORES. ALTHOUGH NOTORIOUSLY TOXIC (ALL PARTS OF THE PLANT ARE POISONOUS), HELLEBORES WERE CULTIVATED BY THE ANCIENTS FOR MEDICINAL USE.
TODAY, HOWEVER, THEY ARE THE DARLINGS OF PLANT CONNOISSEURS WHO CELEBRATE THE PERENNIAL'S MANY FORMS AND DELICATE DEMEANOR.
HAPPY SPRING EVERYONE. CAN YOU SENSE IT IN THE AIR WHERE YOU LIVE?
I had to smile about the pink violets ... it reminds me always of the giggle i have whenever i wax lyrical about one of my favourite flowers - that being the ummm 'white bluebell' ... well, so far we have similar flowers in the garden. and Autumn is whispering my ear but thats via the plants in the garden while we still experience heatwave conditions.

you are getting spring a bit earlier than we are here in the Pacific NW-- though we have had an unusual week of stunning sunshine-- with still cool temperatures but do see some buds on the leaf trees and bushes. your images are very beautiful and know that spring will be coming here soon too.
ReplyDeletesorry to hear that you have not received the book ETC yet-- hope you get it soon!

Thanks for sharing your lovely violets. The pink ones especially.
ReplyDeleteWe had a week of mild temperatures. A tease! We are now under a winter advisory with 8 inches of snow expected over night. The only good thing about this time of year...the snow melts right after the sun comes back out. And the temperatures usually stay above freezing. I call this spring. Others would disagree. I love the gradual way spring comes on. The birds are making a comeback too. I've even seen some robins.
Happy Spring! Here at the beach we have a mixture of sun one day and rain the other...but those daffodils are coming up all over town...!
ReplyDeleteah...beautiful...i breathed deep just to get a taste...
