MAGPIE TALES

I find myself gummed up,
sticky with the remnants
of what I thought was
something.

I try to uncross my arms,
criss-crossed with the
litter of you--
nothing.

Superfluous, empty,
hollow to the core.

I'm wizened, weak,
left trying to cover up
what remains
with white paint.

I used primer, two coats,
still a distant shadow
remains.
Something?

  4. this is very well-written. i like the paint metaphor. so often we do try to whitewash the surfaces, don't we? yet the hurt inside is too deep to cover over. it needs a love and a healing that goes soul-deep.

  5. Leslie said it beautifully ... whitewashing is not the solution.

  8. I liked the underlying emotion in this, well we can't paint everything out, but we can make-do by letting it fade away...Nice magpie:)
