MORNING SURPRISE

Yesterday morning I went outside to go for my walk and on the way glanced over in an area in my yard that I have not paid the most attention to. It is an area that is filled with different cacti plants and to me...they were just "there". But yesterday! Surprise, surprise!

One of the cactus plants was in full bloom. What a wonderful surprise. I love that about this new place...there is always something new to enjoy. Different seasons bring different plants. These plants seem to enjoy being left alone, just as if they were growing in the desert. I haven't watered them once since we moved here and true to form, they have bloomed lush, pink flowers. There is beauty in everything. We just have to be awake at the right time to find it and see it...really SEE it!

  2. Cactus blooms@ Or, is that cactii blooms? Ah well, whatever way it you spell it is still beautiful and unexpected and quite rare. I envy you having something growing all year. Most of what grows here for half the year is white and I have to shovel it. Thanks for stopping by and leaving my your words of encouragement. I'm not in a funk, just noticing some changes afoot.

  8. Chicklet===I'm not sure. I would say that it is "one cactus" "two cacti". Isn't plural for cactus cacti or did I get that wrong? I'm sure that someone will correct me. I am always willing to learn something new.

  9. I have been reading a book titled LIVING ZEN and your comments at the end match perfectly the philosophy of Zen-- the live in the moment-- to really see the every day stuff and appreciate the simplest things.

  12. cacti :) i used to have one -- a little one. They say it's impossible to kill a cactus, but while I was away for a few months last year, he shrivelled up and died.

There was a cactus at my parents' house when i was growing up. I always thought it was mad that it flowered. People always associate cacti with prickles... and yet the thing had leaves and flowers on occasion.
