Luminous mind, bright devil
of absolute clusterings, of upright noon...:
here we are at last, alone, without loneliness,
far from the savage city's delirium.
Just as a pure line describes the dove's curve,
as the fire honors and nourishes peace,
so you and I made this heavenly outcome.
The mind and love live naked in this house.
Furious dreams, rivers of bitter certainty,
decisions harder than the dreams of a hammer
flowed into the lover's double cup,
until those twins were lifted into balance
on the scale: the mind and love, like two wings.
---So this transparency was built.

Superb vases! Are they Japanese? Neruda's poetry is exceptional, like always.

ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful poem. Next ween (starting Sunday) I am going to be hosting a poetry week and inviting people to write poetry as well. I hope you will join, Teri.
ReplyDeleteA perfect photo for a wonderful poem....
ReplyDeleteJoanny--No, not my art. I took this photo in Mendocino while visiting last year. Aren't they wonderful?
ReplyDeleteAubrieAnne--Just let me know. I will check it out and probably join you. Thanks for the invitation!
Traveling Hawk--Yes, I think that they are Japanese, however, I am not totally certain. I did not go inside the store and find out about them. I just took pictures of what I found interesting from the outside. It was a gorgeous, sunny day last April and we spent the entire day almost walking around the town. I, of course, had my camera with me. It is my constant companion.
Joanny--I am quite familiar with Oregon. We used to live just over the border in Siskiyou County, Calif. and traveled to Oregon quite a lot. I have a friend in Ashland and we have spent many vacations in that area also (Coos Bay, Bend, Lincoln City, Neskowin, etc.) Love that state!
