HANGING BY A THREAD

"THE ART OF LIVING...IS NEITHER CARELESS DRIFTING ON THE ONE HAND NOR FEARFUL CLINGING TO THE PAST ON THE OTHER. IT CONSISTS IN BEING SENSITIVE TO EACH MOMENT, IN REGARDING IT AS UTTERLY NEW AND UNIQUE, IN HAVING THE MIND OPEN AND WHOLLY RECEPTIVE."
Alan Watts

  2. I love the notion of every moment being new and unique. I so needed to hear that at just this moment. Thank you, Teri!

  3. Brian---That's so weird to hear that. These shoes were photographed in a very out-of-the-way location where I suppose that could be the case because no one would be "looking" but I never heard of that. It's great to read what things "mean" to others. I guess the older we get the more out of the loop we can become. Nice to have people like you to clue me in. I will keep an eye out! I remember seeing a tree once that was loaded with shoes. Same meaning do you think?

  4. I love this quote. It helped make my adjustment from sleeping to being awake much more special. I had heard the shoes hanging from the wires was a gang thing, in other words this is my territory. The other day I drove to the end of a country road looking for a garage sale. My friend, an ex-Bay Area person had done this with his family shoes on the fence wire. I laughed so hard. A little whimsy goes a long way.
