PONDERING

Mushrooms I found on my walk today. Don't they look like coral from the ocean? I have never seen these before. Eyes on the ground; there are things to be found. You can click to enlarge.

Something I heard today that made me ponder was this:

THE SPIRITUAL COMMUNITY TRIANGLE

  • Relationship with God--The process of actively seeking what God means for each of us, being clear about what we believe.
  • Relationship with Self--The process of discovering our own strengths and sacred worth. Taking care of ourselves physically and intellectually.
  • Relationship with Others--To see the sacred worth of others, and to all others to reflect that same thing back to us and hold us accountable.
I don't mean to be preaching here. I have a spiritual belief in what "God" means to me. But, I like the idea of the triangle and the community.

The blog community that I follow is very strong and I see spirituality in all the blogs that I follow. I love you all for that. Here is a song that speaks to me with wonderful, loving words. It's incredible what you find when you least expect it. Sort of like stumbling upon those mushrooms emerging from under the leaves. What an incredible metaphor.

HOW CAN ANYONE EVER TELL YOU
YOU ARE ANYTHING LESS THAN BEAUTIFUL?
HOW COULD ANYONE EVER TELL YOU
YOU ARE LESS THAN WHOLE?
HOW COULD ANYONE FAIL TO NOTICE
THAT YOUR LOVING IS A MIRACLE
AND HOW DEEPLY YOU'RE CONNECTED TO MY SOUL!

This follows my whole "interconnectedness" theme. In Avatar, the movie, they say to each other "I see you" meaning they SEE what is deep inside of whomever they are with. They are connected to each other and ALL living creatures and lifeforms. A wonderful idea to ponder and also recognize that life may throw rocks (as Nina Bagley says) at us but we have the choice of how to deal with it.

  1. I saw one of those mushrooms around here last fall and couldn't believe it either - I've never seen them either!

The triangle idea is interesting. I've been reading mostly Hindu-based ideas lately and their concept is that the self IS God (the Self), and therefore everyone else is God too. And everyone else is also a reflection of yourself. There is no separation, everything is a part of what the ancient Indian Vedas, like the quantum physicists of today, call the Field. At least that's what I've taken away from it so far.

After being brought up Catholic this concept is pretty revolutionary.

  2. I have always believed and taught my children that there is no wrong or right religion. I have no pre-conceived image of God, as I believe all that is living is part of the whole and our Mother Earth is the spirit that dwells in us all.

  3. My goal is to try and handle the rocks thrown at me with GRACE-- my new year mantra
I have never seen those type of mushrooms either

  4. M--I think this is exactly what I am getting from what I am reading also. I believe in what you are referring to as "the field" as in Energy (field). For me, that is what "God" is, an energy that touches everything and everyone.

Four Seasons--Right on! I have been attending a church of sorts for the past couple of months called Unity and that is what they believe too. There is no right or wrong way. In fact the pastor referred to it as "the Burger King approach"...as in "have it your way". I like that idea. That I can have it any way that is right for me. All that is living IS part of the whole. You are so right. (My beliefs as well).

Layers--Hey...that is my word for the year too. I think that I just might take the rocks that are hurled my way and build a beautiful rock wall in my garden. I will be in tune with you this year. We can meander the rock quarry together and build positive things from them all.

  5. Teri,
This a beautiful post...and the comments are just as beautiful. For me everything is an ever expanding energy. I'm hoping this way of looking at what God means to each of us individually will bring peace to our amazing planet.

I just watched the funniest movie called Know Your Shrooms, an indie film with lots of information and laughs. Synchronicity.

  6. M--Like I've said before, everything in life is connected. The point is to know it and understand it. I, too, agree with your sentiments about spreading peace to our planet. Maybe there is a wave of these incredible thoughts spreading deep beneath the depths of the blogs. One can only hope.

  8. Magical mushrooms!
    I like your thoughts too.
I think that's what we're doing with the blogs too, right? Seeing each other?
