Spaceflight Now | Breaking News | Falling German satellite greater threat than UARS

Is anyone wondering where or when the ROSAT will land? I listen to news reports and check links about it but it seems that there really isn't much information regarding where or exactly when it will land. Is this by design or is it that they just don't know? I think with all the scientific instruments and data that are available we should know more about it than we do. All I can find out is that it will be around October 22 or 23 and that I have a 1 in 2,000 chance of being hit.

  1. they won't say as it would cause mass panic. I think I'll just keep an eye on where the 'prominent' people are hanging out and it they all move somewhere else, well, that may be a clue...

  4. Our wonderful MEDIA told us that it's OK because it wasn't going to land anywhere in the United States. Good grief...

  5. Connie--I haven't even heard that it wasn't going to it the U.S.! I think they are waiting to give us the bad news like Barb says "because it would cause mass panic". Can you imagine a one thousand -plus mirror landing anywhere close to where you live or sleep? If it doesn't land in the ocean, I sure hope it lands in some uninhabited area where no one will be hurt. We need to re-think all this kind of stuff. What goes up must come down.
