FROM THE STRANGE TO THE SUBLIME

Some of the art we saw last weekend at the Mendocino Art Center was unique, to say the least. From blue-head sculptures to

Buddha temples to

horses made from drift wood to

"love seats" (literally) made from rusted metal to

beautiful hand-blown glass. One of these days I am going to sign up for art classes at this great facility. I have been thinking about it for years but just have never gotten around to it. It is on my "to-do" list. So many things to do, so little time!

  2. Thanks Brian. It was great just being there around the ocean and walking up to the art center to find this great horse made of all the wood that washes up on the beach. It makes you wonder how long they had to search for "just the right piece" for "this or that" doesn't it? If I was at the ocean, looking at all the washed-up wood, would I see a horse in all of it? I'm not too sure. Yes, "the love seat"! Great concept. Small, like a love seat. Sit there and fall in love. So many different concepts in just that terminology: love seat.

  5. I love the glass. They remind me of Dale Chihuly's work. How fortunate that you get to see so many artist's works. I also love the Buddha temple boxes. Wonderful detail to this one.
Hope you are having a relaxing Sunday Teri.
Funny my word verification on my edit here was 'Shalom'.
    How appropriate.
Oh gosh and after I came back to tell you that the new verification word was 'rejuven'...which to me was exactly the rejuvenation I recieve each time I stop in to visit you! Super synchronicity today! xxoo

  6. I have seen those horses made from driftwood- they are fabulous-- I almost taught a workshop once at the Mendocino art center-- I would love to go there.

  7. I love the colourful, hand-blown glass best but I must say that the driftwood horse is clever work.
