MY COUSIN'S SON'S VIDEO

My cousin's son, Kyle Buthman, has made a surfing video and you can view it here and vote (along with 9 other videos) for the top choice. I think it is pretty exciting, seeing the talent this young man has with a camera. Some of the shots are in "the tube" of the wave. How he does this, is beyond me! Kyle, along with his family, lives in Santa Cruz, California, and he and his brother have been surfing since they were young. Amazing!

If you'd like to see other videos in the competition you can go to: innersection.tv/video/165. There you will find the Top 10 listed. Some really creative young people if you ask me! And that surfing talent is phenomenal!

  1. Thanks for the link, Teri. I really enjoyed that. Love watching surfing, reliving my well spent youth. Wonderful filming, love that shot where the camera is mounted on the board, going through the wave. Wowee!

  2. Brilliant surfing...always wished I grew up in Cali so I could have done the surfing thing.

  3. Pauline--Thanks for watching. I, too, wonder about that shot on the board. I need to ask my cousin if Kyle is handling the camera or what? I see lots of clips where someone definitely needs to be handling the camera, either right behind him or next to him. I know that Kyle is a great surfer himself so I will need to check on this.

King--Yes, California is such an incredible place. When you are in the areas such as Santa Cruz or anywhere where there are good waves, there is such a cool vibe in the entire town. I love the feeling that you get when you are in Santa Cruz. It feels so healthy. Perhaps you have heard of Mavericks too...the really BIG waves off the shore a bit farther south of Santa Cruz. Every year I swear I want to go to watch and then it happens so quickly that you can't get there in time. Good hearing from you!

  4. That was some fantastic filming. Your nephew is really good...and I enjoyed the music. I sent this link on to my son. He is big on surfing and hopefully he will let some of his friends know about it. I couldn't find the spot to vote....if you could direct me it would be helpful. I think he deserves to win.

  5. Teri, I have a young French surfing film-maker friend (he's here making a surfing movie) and he showed me how they mount the camera on the board. I love the shots where the camera is on the nose of the board, looking back up at the surfer and you can see the joy of the wave on their face. Apparantly the surfer get used to the slightly difference feel of the board (with the extra weight) very quickly. I was a surfer in my (very much) younger days and still delight in watching surf and surfers.

  6. Maggie--you have to go up to the top and log in (basically make a password and log in) and then it allows you to vote for your favorite. I admit, because I have such slow internet and it takes forever to load the darn thing (stop and start, stop and start) that I just voted for my cousin's son. I probably would have anyway...it's a family thing, you know!
