I ASK YOU TO TELL ME
WHAT YOU KNOW.
YOU, HAVING KEPT SECRETS
FROM ME ALL MY LIFE
REFUSE.

REALITY.

RUSTED LIES
LAY LOST INSIDE YOU.
EVEN IF YOU HAD THE KEY,
YOU SAID:
YOU HAVE SECRETS
YOU WILL TAKE
WITH YOU
TO
YOUR
GRAVE.

I WILL NEVER
BE
OFFERED
A KEY
TO ENTER.

NEVER!

ALL I SEE IS THAT DARK
EMPTY
LONELY
SPACE
THAT REMAINS.
THE KEY
THAT USED TO FIT THERE
IS
LOST FOREVER.

FOREVER!

NEVER: FOREVER.

  5. "rusted lies lay lost inside you" - some great metaphor going here. Wise poem, wrought from experience (?).

  6. Jennifer--Absolutely wrought from experience. I would say that every poem I have ever written has its basis in reality. I don't think I could make up anything that I have never experienced myself. I am a visual person and have a memory for details so when the muse strikes, the words just seem to flow. Thanks for the comments.

Kavisionz---yes, a cry of helplessness and despair. Some of these secrets have been hidden from me since birth (or before).
